AFOQT Study Guide 2017-2018: AFOQT Test Prep and Practice Test Questions for the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test

This is a great resource for the AFOQT!

December 2018

The Barron and Trivium books are probably the most accurate guides to study from I’d say.

December 2018

Trivium makes a great study guide.

December 2018

The trivium study guide helped a ton.  Also, be sure to time yourself.  I didn’t and I was rushing throughout the whole entire test.

October 2018

Just took the AFOQT yesterday and Barron’s helped.  But get Trivuum, you’ll thank me later.

October 2018

^This.  Learn to do things slow for tips and tricks to skip steps, but time yourself.  When we got to part two, the proctor literally laughed as she read out the amount of time we had.  It’s no joke.  If your proctor gives you a time hack (usually 5 minutes on the longer sections and 30 secs-1 minute on the shorter ones) fill in all the bubbles.  I started working backwards with a minute or so to go and felt less rushed because I already had something filled in.

October 2018

Mine is a 2nd edition Barron’s.  Also I second the Trivium comment.  If you want variety to the questions, there is an OAR Trivium that is very similar.  I took both tests and they mirror up pretty well.

October 2018

Currently studying.  I’m using the Trivium study guide and find it very useful.

July 2018

Most have used this study guide and the Peterson study guide.   I personally used this one and it helped out tremendously.  Has an explanation of how to do all of the categories, plus test taking tips and two full practice tests.

July 2018

That’s the book I used primarily.  Took the AFOQT yesterday and it was much easier than the examples in the book.  They say they’ll send you a free DVD which I was looking forward to but it hasn’t arrived yet.  Recommend printing out an actual 34×34 table and not use any of the tables from this book.

December 2017

I did mine a couple years back, but this has good reviews on Amazon.

December 2017

Trivium.  Very closely mimics the test especially in the math portions.  It really helped me attain the extra edge.  I would knock the rust off with Barron’s, then go through Trivium very slowly to clear up the tricky spots.

November 2017

Good, had a few errors in the practice test solutions but I studied that book primarily and did well.

September 2017

It’s really good so is Barron’s if you’re trying to get a perfect score I recommend using those two for the instruments situational judgement and aviation stuff.  Then just use a GRE book for the verbal and math and you should be good.  Tables should be by yourself.

September 2017

This and Barron’s were really helpful, I’d say they’re the top two of the several I went through.

September 2017

Took the AFOQT last Friday and it was very similar to this study guide.

September 2017

I just took the test two weeks ago.  This was hands down the best resource I had in terms of likeness to the test especially in the math sections.  I also used Barron’s and Peterson’s.  Really can’t recommend it highly enough.

September 2017

Barron’s Military Flight Aptitude Tests

I thought the Barrons practice tests were a fairly accurate portrayal of the actual test.

October 2018

Barron’s is the master of all AFOQT study books.

December 2017

Barron’s is great except the table reading is nothing like the actual test. Find the real table reading example from the air force site and skip Barron’s table reading.

March 2017

This was a great resource to learn about the basics of aviation and also gave me a few practice tests to try out.

October 2016

AFOQT Secrets Study Guide: AFOQT Test Review for the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test

I used AFOQT secrets that I bought on Amazon.com.  It’s a really good book that’s not full of unnecessary information.

December 2017

I used AFOQT secrets.

December 2017

AFOQT Study Guide: Test Prep and Practice Test Questions for the AFOQT Exam

I found this pretty helpful, and also check for online practice tests.  There are free PDFs you can get that really helped me get a feel for timing the sections.

March 2018

I second this. I actually used the same book and had some identical questions on my real exam.

March 2018

That’s the one I used.  It really helped my verbal score, but I don’t think the math problems were as diverse.  But then again, I just suck at math.  Haha.

October 2016

Yes, the verbal part was key. I ended up getting a 96 in that section — I definitely attribute that to the study guide.

October 2016

Lowest score was an 84, highest 96. I ran through all the practice questions a few times and brushed up on algebra.

October 2016

Have Barron’s as well, it’s very thorough. And it clearly explains both practice tests.

Master the Officer Candidate Tests

AFOQT Study Guide 2018: Prep Book & Practice Test Questions for the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test

It tells you what to expect: the times for each section, what you’re allowed to use during the tests, refreshers for each subject, practice tests, etc. It really helped me.

December 2018

I got this AFOQT study guide and while it did help a bit in understanding how each section worked, the math portions were waaaaaay too easy. I blew threw them in practice but it really hurt me on the actual test lol.

December 2018

I used this one and kicked that test’s butt!

GRE Prep Plus 2018: Practice Tests + Proven Strategies + Online + Video + Mobile (Kaplan Test Prep)

The Official Guide to the GRE General Test

5 lb. Book of GRE Practice Problems (Manhattan Prep GRE Strategy Guides)

I ordered the official GRE books, Peterson’s master the officer candidate test 9th edition, Barron’s military flight aptitude test, Nelnetsolutions.com and the pictured book. I used as much resources as possible!

October 2016

GRE For Dummies: with Online Practice Tests

I studied using GRE for dummies and did the table reading/etc all online. Did alright on the test.

December 2018

Barron’s SAT Vocabulary Flash Cards: 500 Flash Cards to Help You Achieve a Higher Score

I used this for the verbal portion.

December 2018

Nelnetsolutions.com

If you sign up for the following website you can take an online test that actually times you, and scores your percentage.  I think you can only take one section once though…  It also seems to grade harder then the actual AFOQT.  I got mid 50s on almost everything and scored 80+ on all but two on the actual test.

July 2018

If anyone hasn’t taken it, THIS is your first step.  Take this test with the time limits and no help to gauge where you are at and get a feel for how quickly the test will go.  If you go in cold turkey, you will be shocked how fast you need to move.  This way, you can see how it is like and see where you are weaker.  The questions will obviously not be the same and vary in difficulty, so make sure to try and study somewhat broadly for the various sections.  Good luck!
