  1. Sir,

Do you think the same 3 colonels are on the board within the fiscal year? Or, do they always get new people for each board?

  2. There are gonna be over 1000 selects for the non-rated boards? I gotta think that helps my chances lol.

  3. I know this is crazy!

  4. I don't think so, I personally think it is a new board every time but I could be wrong.

  5. 1000 selects!? What percentage is that gonna be, 90?

  6. Good luck to everyone!

  7. Airforceotsguy,

I wanted to pose a question to you, and I know of no other way than through your posts as I can't seen to find a means to message you.

Our group just went through a Change of Command,. As such, I will have my new Commander signing the MFR for MPS to code me 005 one I am 30 days out from the application link opening. I've gone into the SharePoint and drafted a template of all the information it asks for. Should I enter the name of the Commander I've done 99% of the work with, or will I put the newly appointed Commander down. Our resigned Commander remains on-base, just leading in a higher capacity — so him and I still actively communicate.

    All the best,
    S.

  8. I wish I knew! I'm not sure how many applied.

  9. My email is in the description at the top of this blog (airforceotsguy@gmail.com). I think it has to be your actual commander who signs all of the paperwork. Hopefully your previous commander has written all of the bullets because if you have that kind of relationship with him it is likely a quality product. Swapping out the signature block is kind of a formality because of who your commander technically is. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have more questions or more details.

  10. OTS SharePoint says about almost 700 selects, not 1000.

Coworker of mine submitted on the 19th of September (I believe that was our original cutoff date) and his submission number was mid 500s. I am guessing that active duty submissions alone was somewhere over 600. I don't think 1,000 means an astronomical selection rate, more like there was an astronomical number of applicants.

  12. Thanks, I made the change.

  13. Especially now that the alleged selection number is under 700, I agree with you. I am sticking to my normal estimate of 67% selection rate.

  14. Anonymous

Perhaps they mean they only have 700 left to sort through. Or perhaps there were 1,000 selected, but nearly 300 of them didn't meet AFSC requirements and were dropped.

Also, perhaps I could come up with a thousand other theories.

  15. Lol yeah I wish I was an insider at AFRS. I have a lot of respect for truth vs. theory.

  16. Roger that. I have everything signed with the exception of the memorandum for the AAC once I am 30 days out from the link opening.

In regards to the bullets, I ended up writing and piecing all of my bullets together. He was pleased with the format and changed very little, if anything at all.

I will submit my package to the SharePoint using the name of the current Commander, and keep them both in the loop. Also, if selected, I'll be happy to provide you with a redacted copy of my entire application to help out other applicants.

  17. Thank you! It sounds like you are doing very well and are on top of everything. Communication is key. Good luck and keep me posted!

How does an applicant get notified of being selected or not

  19. AD applicants are officially notified by PSDM in MyPers, or sometimes the individual's commander get's advanced notice. Civilian applicants are notified by their recruiter.

  20. I have a question about the 17OT03 Board. I know we can all speculate but I wanted to know do you think our board will have a decent acceptance rate? This is the first time that they combined non rated and rated applicants. The board prior looks to be over 700 selects. Does this mean the 17OT03 board is going to be really competitive? What are some of your thoughts?

  21. Hard to say, especially BEFORE 17OT01 results. IMO selection rate always hovers around 67%. They selection rate for 17OT03 will drop if AFRS runs out of quotas to fill, other than that I think it will be 67%. All of this is purely speculation without raw data.

Are there any updates on the release date that is scheduled for tomorrow my son contacted his recruiter who told him not to expect any results until mid may even though the release date is 28 April

  23. Anonymous

    Anyword yet?

  24. Anyone on here hear of another delay for the public announcement? I've seen rumors that AD selects are starting to trickle down. But I'm a civvie and the wait is killing me!

  25. Civilian results are trickling out!

  26. Results are trickling out!

  27. Civilian results are trickling out as well!

  28. My recruiter called me and told me expect to hear something soon, then he later sent me paperwork to sign and told me to get ahold of my birth cert, passport ss card etc.. trying not to get too excited but seems like he was dropping hints to me. But I want the official word before getting too excited.

  29. Anything can happen… good luck with the waiting game!

  30. How soon after getting selected (A/D) do you typically get your assignment?

  31. This is different for every career field, depends on a ton of factors. If tech school is < 20 weeks you will likely get an assignment prior to OTS. My best estimate is 30-60 days prior to leaving for OTS is when you will get your assignment (for most people). Here is my timeline for 13S. http://journeytoairforceots.blogspot.com/search/label/Select

  32. 31P Civilian Select.. it was a long journey but the end result was definitely worth it. Thanks again for all the info in your blog. With you formally being in Security Forces (if I remember correctly)I'd love to get in touch with you and pick your brain.

  33. Congratulations!!! Yes I was SF as an AB-SSgt and would love to share my perspective. Shoot me an email airforceotsguy@gmail.com
