FY2018 Application Quotas Filled

The Line Officer Board operates on a Fiscal Year (FY) schedule, so the current FY 2018 board schedule is filling FY 2019 officer quotas.  According to a memo signed by the Air Force Recruiting Service, all FY 2019 quotas have been filled.  This means that if you are trying to apply for 18OT03 (Civilian) and 18OT04 (Active Duty), you will likely have to wait until a FY 2019 board to apply for a FY 2020 quota.  There may be some exceptions based on degrees or specialties, but as a whole it looks like you will have to wait.

I am just a random guy, but for what it is worth I am really sorry if this announcement affects you.  I know there are a ton of people who have waited to apply for 6-12 months, so this will push out the process even further for you.  That is no way to treat our applicants.

However at the enterprise level, decisions like this have to be made.  I think the biggest reason behind this is that there have been over 1,000 applicants for every board, so a percentage of all of these applicants will quickly fill all quotas.  I believe two boards in there were rumors that they were already filled, and that was months ago.  What that tells me is that something has to change.  We either have to deal with two boards per year (which doesn’t make sense to me), or figure out a different way to recruit the best and brightest from the civilian and enlisted ranks.  This is just me speculating, but one way to do this could be to raise the requirements for applying, whether that be AFOQT, GPA, etc.  Even that is just a snapshot of a recruit’s potential though, so what is that the right answer?  Is that the best answer?  These are questions senior Air Force leadership are dealing with.

Here is the memo addressed to all applicants.  Please let me know if you have any questions, but understand that I am just a random guy and not an official source.

It looks like they filled “non- rated” positions. So if I’m interested in rated I should be good
